WELCOME TO “SVSHMI”

Growing up, some of my fondest memories revolved around beauty and fashion. Buying my first pair of black heels with my mom when I was 5, getting ready for school as my dad did my hair in a half up half down ponytail for kindergarten, patiently waiting as my mom painted my nails for my cousin’s birthday, excitedly puckering my lips so she would apply some of her beloved Revlon Black Cherry Lipstick on me before parties — these are just a few.

Second only to these is my love of cooking and food. I was lucky enough to grow up around both my grandmothers and cooking was how we spent most of our time together (not including time spent watching The Price Is Right haha). I felt so important anytime my ammamma asked me to peel the shells off eggs or whenever my nannamma wanted me to gauge the salt in her curries. I remember running home from the bus stop after school so I could catch an episode of 30 Minute Meals With Rachel Ray on Food Network before I inevitably had to start my homework.

Fast forward a few years later, as I’m approaching the crossroads between college and adulthood — a time of confusion and chaos — these trivial moments I took for granted have become an outlet for the creativity and ambition in me; an art I include in my routine, a connection to my family and culture, and the happiest memories I carry with me daily. And so it only felt natural to create a space where I can share all of this.

So I hope you will follow along with me on this adventure of sharing my passions and building a little community of beauty, food and style lovers! Also please feel free to comment and reach out to me because I love the idea of connecting with other creatives like myself!
