My Fall Playlist

This semester I started commuting to my university, rather than choosing to live on campus, which means I’m now stuck with a 2.5 hour roundtrip commute. Although this sounds awful, I actually quite enjoy driving. I’m completely in control, have the freedom to go anywhere at anytime, and can sing as loud as I want to all the classic tunes! Basically, a 2.5 hour commute means 2.5 hours to discover so many talented new musicians and hidden gems in music.

I’m frequently creating new playlists on Spotify to keep up with my 8748372648236 different moods so of course I have one for the autumn season. This playlist is a compilation of chill autumnal acoustics with a bit of [sad] love songs mixed in to bring all the nostalgic and cozy vibes. Basically, the best playlist for fall road trips!

A little bit about this playlist, the artists and songs I choose. It’s got quite a bit of Ed Sheeran in it because let’s be honest, is it even one of my playlists without him? His music is so versatile and some of his earliest songs embody the cosiness of autumn. I’ve also added quite a few songs from James Arthur; he’s someone I’ve been following since his X Factor days so it makes me so happy to see him do so well now. If you like Ed Sheeran’s earlier albums and EPs, then you’ll be a fan of James Arthur. They’ve got a similar raspy and comforting voice. There’s a couple of oldies such as The Neighborhood’s “Sweater Weather”, The Fray’s “You Found Me” and The Script’s “Man Who Can’t Be Moved” and covers such as Julia Sheer’s “Little Talks”.

However, the bulk of the playlist has one-off songs from lesser known artists and these are the real gems. I love finding new artists and songs that aren’t as popular; it’s the same feeling of finding that perfect hole in the wall coffee shop that most people miss. Some of my absolute faves on this playlist are James Blunt “Monsters” Maisie Peters “Places We Were Made” Declan J Donovan “Fallen So Young” Dermot Kennedy “Glory” and “Muskurane” by Jeet Gannguli (a hindi one).

So I hope you listen to and enjoy this fall playlist I’ve curated. Please leave a comment of your favorite song to listen to during this season as I’m always on the hunt for new music!
