Get Unready With Me – Nighttime Skincare Routine

As the colder weather is approaching, I can feel my skin starting to get drier. This is when I start to put in extra effort into my skincare routine. It’s always changing depending on what my skin needs at that time. Right now, I’ve been packing on the Vitamin C to brighten and bring back the glow as I feel my skin has been dull and lackluster lately.

I start off by using Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes to wipe off my days makeup. While this definitely doesn’t remove everything, I like using a wipe to remove as much makeup off as possible, so my cleanser can focus on cleansing my face and not swishing my makeup around. I find the Neutrogena ones to be the most effective and still affordable. I usually just purchase the 6 pack from Costco since it’s cheaper than buying individuals.

Next, I go in with my face wash. This is always changing but the one I’m currently loving from the past few months is the Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Multi-Action Foam Cleanser. I love this cleanser because it leaves my face “perfectly clean” as the name suggests and doesn’t make my skin feel dry. Also it’s very affordable at $26 and the product lasts quite a while. Also, there’s something about the scent that reminds me of my nannamma and India; I think it might have hints of sandalwood mixed in. And the best part of this product is that it also doubles as a clay mask. For a deeper cleanse, you can apply the cleanser to your face dry, leave it on for 3-5 minutes and wash it off.

After my cleanser, I apply Tatcha The Essence Plumping Skin Softener. I’ll admit, this is definitely expensive and a luxury that isn’t a necessity to my routine. However, I feel that it preps my skin really well to absorb all the goodness from my serum and moisturizer. I particularly love using it in conjunction with the Tatcha Violet C Brightening Serum. I started using this back in December when it was kindly sent to my PO Box, and am so happy I discovered it; I’ve since purchased another one. I’ve gotten so many compliments about my skin being glowy and luminous since I started using it.

After my serum, I pop on the Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Drops. Again this is another pricey skincare product that I honestly wouldn’t recommend to anyone unless they have serious or noticeable discoloration. Unfortunately, this is something prevalent amongst brown skin and something that I struggle with, specifically around my mouth area. I apply a few drops around my mouth and other problem spots. If you’re interested in trying this but don’t want to spend the money, TruSkin Vitamin C Serum is a really great alternative and much cheaper. It’s available on Amazon and it’s a great beginner serum if you’re not ready to commit or don’t want something as concentrated as the drops.

Next, I move onto my moisturizer. Currently, I’ve been loving the Clinique Smart Night Repair. It’s especially neat because you can customize it to your skin type; mine is the one for combination dry skin. Then I pop on the Clinique 72 Hour Moisture Surge Moisturizer under my eyes as a makeshift under eye cream. I like using this one under my eyes because it moisturizes the area without making my eyes feel like they’re under water. I sometimes find that eye creams are too thick and goopy and I wake up with my eyes feeling crusty. (Delicious, I know) Finally, I add a bit of Vaseline Lip Therapy Lip Balm to moisturize my lips. Again, this is something that I frequently change, mostly because I always lose my lip balms, but I’ve been using the vaseline one for the past few months and love it.

Additionally, this last step is super extra and definitely not a necessity but when I’m feeling extra fancy and really want to give myself a pamper, I use a jade roller to massage my face. I’m not quite sure what it’s actually meant to do, I just love the sensation of the cool stone massaging my face. The one I use is from Amazon and on sale for $8.

This is my current skincare routine, specifically for bright and glowy skin. I hope this was helpful and leave a comment of what your favorite skincare product is, as I’m always on the hunt to try new products!
